Our story

The idea for Cirklr began in 2023, sparked by the frustration of seeing useful items sit unused. Traditional “banks of items” were hard to manage, and most existing sharing platforms felt too commercial — focused more on profit and reselling than on actually enabling resource sharing. Meanwhile, everyday tools and equipment often end up gathering dust, used once and then forgotten.

At the same time, something more essential seemed to be missing: a sense of local connection, mutual help, and simple neighborly care. Cirklr was created to bring that spirit back — by making it easy to share within small, trusted circles like housing associations or local communities. It's a way to live more sustainably, practically, and meaningfully — one shared item at a time.

Why we exist

Who we are

Cirklr was created by a single developer with a passion for sustainability and a background in local organization volunteering.

Along the way, friends, colleagues and other people from local associations and organizations from Stockholm offered support, insights, and encouragement.
