After a full year of development, we're proud to announce the launch of Cirklr in beta version — a community-based sharing platform that started as a simple idea in June 2024 and has since grown into a fully functional tool built to empower local sustainability.
What began with a few sketches and conversations about how to reduce waste and strengthen neighborhood connections has evolved through months of design, user research, and development into a streamlined, intuitive web application.
The first phase of development was led by a single full-stack developer, with valuable input and collaboration from a UX designer to ensure that Cirklr felt simple, accessible, and human-centered from the very start.
Every detail — from the circle-based structure to the platform's focus on trust and community — has been carefully crafted with real users and local groups in mind.
Now live in beta, Cirklr allows people to lend and borrow everyday items within their own circles, such as housing associations, local communities, or neighborhoods. The platform makes sharing easy, secure, and socially rewarding, turning tools that gather dust into shared resources that bring people together.
From May to November 2025, Cirklr has been tested and refined through several rounds of feedback and feature improvements. These sessions helped us fix bugs, improve usability, and add key features to better meet the needs of real communities.
Next, Cirklr will move into a pilot phase, where selected communities and organizations in Stockholm — including collaborations with the City of Stockholm and non-profit partners — will be among the first to use the platform in their daily life.
We're incredibly excited to see Cirklr come to life and to watch it grow into a true hub for circular living, neighborhood connection, and everyday generosity.
