HELP WITH CIRKLR

What would you like to know?

Start with a question. If the answer isn’t here, reach us at support@cirklr.com.

Getting started

What can I do with Cirklr?

Borrow, lend and give away items with people in your circles. A circle is a group such as neighbours, a housing association or a local community.

What do I need to create an account?

We’re keeping Cirklr focused on Sweden for now. You need to be 16 or older and have an email address and a Swedish phone number. Registration also requires Sweden as your selected country.

How do I join or start a circle?

Follow an invitation or find a circle in the app. Joining can use requests, keys or invitations, depending on the circle’s settings. You can also choose to create a circle for your group.

My invitation takes me to sign in. What next?

Keep the original link. If you do not reach the circle after signing in or creating an account, open the same invitation again. Ask the circle admin for a new invitation if it no longer works.

Can I belong to more than one circle?

Yes. You can join multiple circles and choose which of them to share each item with.

Can I use Cirklr on my phone?

You can open Cirklr in a web browser on your phone, tablet or computer.

Borrowing and sharing

What can I offer, and who sees it?

Offer useful items you are happy to lend or give away. Describe them clearly and choose the circles to share them with. Only people with access to those circles can browse the items. Finding a circle does not automatically give someone access to its items. Follow the terms when choosing what to share.

Do I have to lend something before I can borrow?

No. You can send a request without listing an item of your own. Lending is voluntary: the owner decides which requests to accept.

How does an exchange work?

Find an item in a shared circle and send a request. The owner can accept or decline. If they accept, use the conversation to arrange collection and return. Collect the item, return it as agreed and complete the loan in the app.

Is there a booking calendar?

The owner may ask for collection and return dates. Add them when requested and agree the details together. Sending a request does not automatically reserve the item.

What if plans change or an item is late?

Contact the other person in the conversation and agree what to do next. The cancellation options shown in the app depend on how far the exchange has progressed.

Can I give something away?

Yes. Choose the giveaway option and arrange collection with the recipient. They keep the item, so there is no return to arrange.

Can we leave reviews?

You can leave a review within 7 days after a completed loan or giveaway. Reviews let participants share their experience, but do not verify identity or guarantee how someone will behave.

Free access and membership

When can I send requests for free?

You can send requests without paid membership if a shared circle containing the item has 20 or fewer members or 30 or fewer items.

How much is membership, and why is there a fee?

SEK 40 per person per year, renewing automatically each year. It is a modest contribution to development and running costs, supporting Cirklr’s local-sharing initiative. The full explanation and exemptions are on About Cirklr.

About membership
How do I stop membership renewal?

Stop renewal in your profile and check the expiry date shown there. Contact support if you need help with your membership.

Is every item free to borrow?

Free sharing is encouraged. An owner can ask for a contribution towards operating costs, so read the item details. That arrangement is separate from Cirklr membership; membership is not payment to the lender. Cirklr focuses on community sharing rather than a public rental catalogue.

What does the membership fee support?

Cirklr is a young app and is not yet profitable. The modest membership fee helps keep development and operation going. We want to keep improving it with local sharing and a more circular economy in mind.

Your circle

Who manages a circle?

The circle admin helps the group get started and manages its settings and members. Item owners decide what to share and which requests to accept.

Can a circle have several circle admins?

Each circle currently has one designated circle admin. Ask the circle admin or support if you need help managing a circle.

How do I invite neighbours?

Choose the circle’s joining options and use invitations or its printable flyer to spread the word. Explain what the circle is for and invite neighbours to add their first items.

What should I check before leaving a circle?

Use the Leave action on the circle page. Leaving removes your access to that circle and stops sharing your items there; it does not mean deleting the items from all your other circles. Agree how to finish any outstanding exchanges before you leave.

Care, privacy and support

How do we share with care?

Read descriptions, ask questions and agree collection, use and return together. Circles and reviews can help you get to know who you share with, but cannot guarantee an item’s condition or another person’s behaviour.

What if an item is damaged or lost? Is insurance included?

Contact the other person and discuss what happened. The terms explain your responsibilities and those of Cirklr. Membership does not include insurance for shared items. Read the terms before an exchange and check any insurance you may have yourself.

Terms of use
Where can I read about my data and rights?
